GP14 Sheet Lengths
Spinnaker Sheets
9.5m (if tapered sheets are used, the tapered (thinner) ends have to be 2.7m
each)
Diameter depends on the degree of crew hand comfort required. For light
conditions, 4mm dyneema should suffice. For heavier winds, 6mm may be preferred.
The ideal is a tapered sheet, with 4mm ends and 6mm in the centre. This can be
sourced as such (at a cost!) from the UK or can be home made by sewing 4mm sheet
into the inner core of a 6mm sheet.
Main Sheet
8m in length if rigged with minimal purchase, 10m if rigged a la Enterprise
and maybe 12m if triple purchase centre sheeting is used starting from the
transom.
The diameter should be 8mm. Anything thicker means slow freeing offs and
inhauls! Use good gloves if you feel the mainsheet hurts your hands.
Genoa
Length 6 - 8 m, 8mm diameter. Gloves highly recommended in a strong
wind!
